Phil Shuttleworth arrives at Encinitas Express with 15 years experience coaching boys and girls of all ages and levels of ability throughout San Diego County.  Phil has a an abundance of passion and enthusiasm as well as leadership experience, having held management & head coaching assignments with several clubs in San Diego including LA Galaxy San Diego, Albion, and San Marcos Revolution.

Originally hailing from Lancashire, England, Phil is motivated to be an integral part of an exciting new chapter at Encinitas Express; he aspires to unlock the potential of all players and teams at the grass roots level so a clear path for development and soccer excellence is accessible and achievable. 

Coaching Philosophy:

"As a youth soccer coach you are simply preparing teams and players for the next level, phase, stage or coach. This is a continual process, the fruits of which will never be fully evident until the players are no longer considered "youthful."  Ultimately, the aim should always be to help mold and produce young adults with healthy habits, strong moral values and a passion for sports;  soccer is simply the vehicle of choice used to drive home such messages."
