Phil Shuttleworth joins Encinitas Express effective January 1, 2020 as the Director of Younger Teams/Technical Director for the 2008-2014 age groups.  Phil arrives at Encinitas Express with 15 years experience coaching boys and girls of all ages and levels of ability throughout San Diego County.  Phil has a an abundance of passion and enthusiasm as well as leadership experience, having held management & head coaching assignments with several clubs in San Diego including LA Galaxy San Diego, Albion, and San Marcos Revolution.

Originally hailing from Lancashire, England, Phil is motivated to be an integral part of an exciting new chapter at Encinitas Express; he aspires to unlock the potential of all players and teams at the grass roots level so a clear path for development and soccer excellence is accessible and achievable.

Brett Mills, our previous Director of Younger Teams, will be taking on an important new role as Director of Program Development.  In his new role, Brett will be focused on our recreational and outreach programs, creating and implementing more pathways for children in our community to play soccer. Brett will also be assisting players and families with the transition from recreational to competitive play.
