Refereeing is a great opportunity for kids 12 and older to get involved in a leadership role in soccer and earn some money! To find out more about how to become a referee, check the local refereee training classes at the San Diego County Soccer Referees Association. Questions about becoming a referee? email for answers

We recommend that all referee candidates take the Grade 8, three-day class.  This allows the referee graduate to work competitive games.  The best time to take a class is in the spring.  That will enable to work during the summer tournament season.  It's possible to work nearly every weekend and it's a great summer job.  The extra benefit is that the new referee will be working with experienced referees that will be able to mentor them during the first season.
