SUMMER SOCCER CAMPS - AGES 5 and UP

The Encinitas Soccer League will once again sponsor summer camps in 2008.

Coaching Director Juli Veee and Mike Callies have run this camp for many seasons with great success. These camps are ideal for both the competitive player who wants to get some extra practice time in during the summer and the rec player wanting to improve their skills for the fall season.  Beside skill building, the kids will also learn to play soccer tennis and a myriad of small-sided games that are great for letting each players get touches on the ball.

Whole teams that come to camp will spend the week together and the coaches can design a curriculum based on an individcual team's needs.  Please let Mike or Juli know ahead of time.

The instructors all have an aide to keep the ratios low and the learning high.  Most of the campers return season after season.  The camps are held at Berkich Park in Cardiff where there is plenty of shade to escape the noon sun at lunch and gentle breezes to keep the campers refreshed. Outside of Sunset Elementary on the North Shore of Oahu, there are few more pleasant school locations in the nation.

Elite Clinics-goalieThe Encinitas Express Competitive Soccer Program is designed to serve youth who exhibit a higher level of skill and enthusiasm to play soccer in an environment more competitive than our Recreational Program. All competitive players try out for a team within their age bracket. There are no guarantees of selection but we encourage all interested players to try out. Our coaches evaluate a player and select individuals based upon that player's skill level, attitude and experience. Our Competitive Program is known as Encinitas Express and has been in existence for approximately 20 years. During the 2002/03 season we registered teams at the AA, AAA and Premier levels of play. We have teams for boys and girls ranging from U8 through U19.

Elite Clinics-GoalieCOMPETITIVE SOCCER SEASON
Competitive teams usually begin conditioning practices in mid- to late-May. Teams begin their competitive play by participating in two to four pre-season tournaments through the late spring and summer months. The competitive playing season begins in August and concludes in November/December. There are league and state cup competitions in January through March for the younger teams under 13 and from April through May for the 14 and older age brackets. Our competitive teams also participate in one to two post-season tournaments depending on their age bracket.

ExpressCOMPETITIVE PROGRAM FEES & SCHOLARSHIPS

The fees for competitive soccer are higher than recreational soccer. These fees are used to pay for professional coaches, CYSA and Presidio gaming fees, uniforms, equipment, fields, a basic photo package and lots more. Fees for participating in tournaments are additional and are not included in the League Registration Fee.

Encinitas Express provides scholarships to qualified families. All requests for scholarship are kept confidential. For scholarship requests please contact our registrar or talk to your coach. Applications will be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. We also provide limited opportunities for families to complete field work during the season to help offset registration fees.

UNIFORMS
Encinitas Express players are provided with a new uniform each year. The uniform consists of one pair of shorts, one pair of socks and two jerseys: One white jersey for away games and one navy jersey for home games. Warm up gear and bags are optional and can be purchased at time of registration.

CLINICS
Encinitas Express offers excellent skill development clinics called Elite Clinics every Friday during the season for 12-14 weeks starting in July and ending in October.

Our Director of Coaching, Juli Veee, runs these clinics. Each session is one hour and is dedicated to teaching a wide array of soccer skills including ball skills, shooting skills and goalie skills. The clinics include "Speed and Running Techniques" training from Paul Wright, acknowledged as the fastest player in US Soccer, trainer in speed and running to the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Blast (indoor soccer team) as well as a current San Diego Sockers player. Clinics also include goalie training (goalie training is augmented with twice-weekly trainings during the week).

Encinitas Express offers each player the chance to grow as a soccer player and as an individual. The children have an opportunity to learn valuable lessons in teamwork, to advance as a player and to become a responsible citizen. The League subscribes to a Code of Conduct for our players, coaches and parents. We are primarily a League for the community though we do recruit and attract players from neighboring areas.
