Raised in Latin America, Marvin has always had a profound love for soccer that he shares with his family. He grew up playing soccer for his school and spending his afternoons enjoying pickup games with the other children in his neighborhood. Relocating to the Queens, New York
City as a teenager, he played for Bayside High School while continuing to nurture his love for free-flowing pickup play whenever possible.
During college, Marvin worked as a referee for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps intramural soccer while earning his degree. And, since moving back to San Diego in 2022, he has worked as a coach for Soccer Shots teaching the fundamentals of the sport to children from 2 to 8 years-old.
Soccer is a vehicle for self-realization. As players learn to face challenges on the field with grace and integrity, they build confidence in themselves and their abilities. My goal as a coach is to nurture a joy for learning and foster a life-long love of soccer.
