Joey has been coaching at Express since 2016.  One of 10 children, Joey started playing soccer when he was 5 years old and had an instant "team."  Growing up with soccer, he played on both the competitive and recreational sides at Express and for his high school team, the La Costa Canyon Mavericks.   Joey understands the game as a player, coach and referee.  He earned his referee certification at age 15.  Joey has also helped coach during the summers at Express camps and clinics, coaching both boys and girls.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY:

"As a coach, I like to see my players develop together by having a positive attitude.  It’s not just about winning or losing, it's about learning, improving their skills and knowledge of the game. Soccer is a passionate sport and I want my players to know that.  I ask my players to make goals before the season and I help my players achieve those goals by the end of the season."
